Tu-Tu Cute!!!

Good Monday to you! I am so happy today has arrived, I had a busy, tiring weekend and I was ready for the week to start! I have been trying to post this ALL day but blogger is giving me grief. It keeps rotating my photo! Crazy, huh? So..I had to go to the Create with TLC site and get my photo there. Hope blogger fixes itself soon!!! :)
Today we are having another BEAUTIFUL day! Thank God for this wonderful weather!

Happy Friday to you!! Today I'd like to share some Valentine Treats that made last year and they were a hit, so...I'm making them again this year!!!

All of these images are by Whimsiedoodles. I purchased these last year and checked the shop and they are STILL available!

Good morning! My internet gave me trouble lastnight, so I hope I can get through this post.
It's Thursday! So this means it's time for another Meljen's Challenge #93. The theme this week is to use

I made this card today because it reflects well on the week I've been having so far! LOL Ever have those days where nothing seems to be going right?! Well, that's been ME all week!!! But..I won't bore you with all the details.
I just decided today, I'm gonna put on my Big Girl Panties and Deal with It! What other choice do have anyway!? LOL

I wasn't even happy with my coloring and almost chunked this card, but then I thought to myself, "You are not perfect, the image and card will be fine." So...here she is:

Christmas IS here! And I survived! I made it...it's like running that last stretch of a marathon! Lastnight I had my entire family over. My sister and I had a wonderful visit, she brought some yummy food to snack on, we had Christmas music played by my son and niece. And overall, just had a great time together. For tonight, I have a turkey in the oven. Hubby's side of the family will be over tonight.
I'm really looking forward to tomorrow...the big day! They day I want to sit back and relish at all the blessings given to us. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR SAVIOR! For without Him we wouldn't have the life we have. All the glory goes to Him.

Last minute gifts

Hope everyone had a wonderful, rested weekend. I spent mine suffering from allergies, sinuses..head cold, whatever you wanna call it!LOL Still a bit under the weather today, but I'm hoping a warm cup of tea will help.
I wanted to share some last minute gift ideas with you. The first is a microwave bag of popcorn wrapped up in white paper. I used plain old computer printer paper. Then I put one glove inside of the other and put these on top of my popcorn pack. Tied with a ribbon and drew on a cute face. There you have it: a warm and toasty treat!!!

The next project is a light up snowman jar:

I had some mason jars sitting there, so I spray painted them white, drew on a face, and inserted a strand of white lights. For the hat, I painted the jar lids black and then cut some felt into a circle, I put the felt between the 2 jar lids. The light cord hangs out a bit and then I screwed the lid over that. I hope this explains it well enough. I'm still pretty fuzzy with allergy meds. But really wanted to share these two projects with you.

Where did I get these ideas you may ask? Pinterest of course!! LOL I'm addicted to that site and have found many awesome ideas and yummy recipes!

Autumn Swap!

I was SO pleased when Mamarazzi of Dandelion Wishes let me participate as a NEWBIE in her Autumn Swap! I was paired up with a fellow Texan! Janna from Happiness is a Journey has a wonderful blog about her personal journey through life. I have really enjoyed reading it and getting to know her. She is such an inspiration!
Janna sent me the most wonderful package! I just knew this package was put together for just ME...it was so personal and wonderful!

I LOVE owls...and Janna keyed in on this and sent me this super CUTE OWL mug!!!! Look how adorable she is!

I just bought myself a new Keurig coffemaker so this mug will be used many, many times! I can just sit and stare at it too!!!

And look at these cute bowls!!!

I cannot wait to pull these out on Thanksgiving day and fill them with some wonderful foods and dips!

I have never been to a Pier1, but after seeing these cute owl items...I want to go! Now!! LOL

And just for me! A wonderful candle, some awesome hand lotion from Organics, and my favorite, Burt's Bees lipbalm. I'm all set for fall!

This was such a fun swap, I'm so glad that I got to be a part of it.

Yesterday, I went on a "card making" frenzy. My supply of cards was getting low and I realized it was time to replenish.
So, I grabbed some card blanks and some papers, mostly scraps and got busy. These days I'm trying to use up my scraps and make several cards from the same papers to save time and money.

My thoughts for this card were...keep it or chunk it?! I didn't do this image justice. It is such a beautiful image, and I had such high hopes for this card. I'm just so unhappy with it..I think I need to move the sentiment...I need to place it somewhere else, I even put it on the side of the image, but it looked funny there too.
Maybe a different shape?
Oh well...for now, I'll just keep it on my desk. Any suggestions would really help! :)

I SOOO missed this by a day, but better late than never! I'm adjusting to life with a retired husband..not much "ME" time anymore. But all is good! LOL

I'm new at this, but really wanted to play along, so here it goes.

1. Do you shop til you drop, or are you in and out as quick as possible?
I shop till I drop.....and there's no stopping me!!!

2. Are you a price conscious shopper? I would think so. I use coupons, look for sales, so I can be a pretty smart shopper. :)

3. What store could you spend HOURS in? Hobby Lobby or a really, nice and clean Goodwill! I love hunting for treasures.

4. What is the most frivolous purchase you have ever made?
Hmmm, probably my Ipad. I love electronics, and I love my IPAD! I use it daily!!!

5. What was the last thing you bought for yourself?
A cricut machine on Ebay. Been wanting one forever. Bought it 2 months ago, and I've used it once! LOL
But..I will use it more often for the holidays.

You might recall a post I did about a Bookmark Swap I participated in. I just wanted to share with you the awesome bookmarks I received from some lovely scrappers!

Road Trip!!!

Our weather has just been SPECTACULAR, thank God! Cooler temps and beatiful sun! So..what do we do with days like this? We take a ROAD TRIP!!! My husband and I decided to jump in our Mustang convertible and take a trip north of here to Fredricksburg, Texas. Beautiful place!

We headed up to Enchanted Rock. Not sure what we would find when we got there..but hey..it was an adventure!

Along the way we stopped a small general store, where we met "Jack", their store "keeper".

Jack is on the left...he really liked our Bella!

After picking up a Big Red and a pack of peanuts...we were on our way again.

Here we are!

Of course, I thought we were out for a day of shopping, not hiking. So we were not dressed for the occassion, but we did take a short walk along the trails so our Bella could amuse the deer! LOL

We had a great time there, just relaxing and enjoying the quietness of the country. No cell phones ringing, blasting stereos, honking horns...just nature and some clean, fresh air.

We finished our trip off with a couple of hours of window shopping, jam tasting, pretzel dipping, and buying a few goodies here and there!

Just for You

Good Monday to you! I have once again apologize for my lack in posting. My life has just been a whirlwind lately, and I am looking forward to it slowing down. My Dad is getting better, thank God, but still has limited mobility so he still pretty dependent on us. My daughter is a high school cheerleader, so her activities and games keep me busy too...PLUS>>> this week she is up for Homecoming Queen!!! How exciting for her, right!?

We've got a Homecoming Parade on Thursday, a Senior Class fundraiser (Enchilida plates to sale), and then Friday Night Football w/ the crowning of the Queen and King!

And in between all of this I've got birthdays to celebrate: my son and I celebrated on the 2nd (yesterday), my niece and friend on the 4th (tomorrow!) and my nephews, older son's and cousins take up the rest of the month! Whew!

So...for today, I am bumping up a card I made last year with an image from Meljen's Designs.

I cannot wait for some "ME" time to create some more holiday cards. You should see the new release's Melissa has in store for this week........they are SPOOKY CUTE!!!!! I cannot wait to color them up and make something. Until then..I've got a load of laundry to do! {{{{sigh}}}}

Framed Memo Boards

Just stopping in today to show you a quick project I worked on lastnight. I thought they turned out pretty cute and couldn't wait to show them to you. I'm sorry I didn't take "before" pictures, but I was in a rush.

I started out with 2gold frames from Goodwill (99 cents each),2 cans of Valspar spray paint (I had these) a brand new package of 4 Cork Sheets (99 cents), ALSO from Goodwill. I love that store! {{sigh}} and a package of KI Puffy Stickers from Michael's (clearance priced at $2.79).
I attached some flat head tacks to the back of my puffy stickers with some super strong glue (E6000). I used baby powder on the exposed areas to take the "sticky" off.

Oh one of the many things I love about Fall!!! Football!!! I prefer high school football because my daughter is a Cheerleader. But I do watch some college football, especially when it's the TEXAS LONGHORNS!
Only because I've got a longhorn myself..he's entering his 2nd year there and loves it!!!

Sorry for my late posting. I am still tending to my Dad. He has been moved to a center for Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy. I spent lunch with him, he says he gets so lonely and bored. Well, through all the rushing around all week, I forgot about posting on Monday morning! So...a day late, but here it is!!!
A couple of weeks back I was invited to be on the Design Team for MyGrafico!! Super exciting, right!? I am so happy to be working along this talented group of ladies!

Here's an update on my Dad...and prove there is POWER IN PRAYER!! He is doing much better, he has regained movement on his left side. They have ruled out a stroke. Whatever bit or stung him on his left hand left him paralyzed on the left side, BUT...it seems it was temporary. When we went to visit him on Friday he was moving left leg up and down...so ready to jump out of bed!! LOL

Life can be hard.......

I just wanted to come in and explain my absence. Explain why I haven't been blogging as much. I've hit a bump in the road. As one of my best friends says: "This too shall pass".....and I know it will. It may take time.

I have faith in God and in His timing...so all I can do is pray and take it One Day at a Time. Or as my late grandmother's favorite song goes..."Un Dia La Vez".

Anyway....here's my story in brief.

My Dad was rushed to the hospital on Saturday morning.

It's such a long story, but to make it short, he is being treated in the hospital for a possible stroke, and a possible spider bite to his left hand.
My brother found him face down on the living room floor, his hand super swollen and had 3 large water filled blisters. He said he was trying to kill a bug or spider earlier in the day.
Every day I've been traveling an hour each way to visit him. He is partially paralyzed on his left side. He cannot walk or feed himself. Mentally he is all
there...as sharp as a tool. Sarcastic at times because he can't have a cigarette. :/ On Tuesday we all spent the day with him, it was his 69th Birthday.

We couldn't do much, but I know he enjoyed our company.

This is one of the hardest things I have been through. 1 1/2 weeks ago, he was driving the tractor and herding the cows, and now...he's helpless. :(

I promise to be back on track soon. I love creating cards and crafts, it's always been an outlet for me.

New DT and Challenge!

This past weekend has been like a rollercoaster ride for me! During the past week I learned I was a new member on several design teams...I am super excited. THEN...on Saturday morning, my life turned upside down. My dad, who was this rough and tough cowboy, suffered a stroke. He is still in the hospital, so if my blog posts and challenge entries don't seem up to par, this is why. I don't have alot of "me" time, and emotionally and physically I am drained. I have faith in God that He will pull all of us through this!

My entry today is for a new Design Team that I am now on: MyGrafico. This week's theme is Challenge #110, Back to School. I love this new challenge...seems like lots of fun!

Well, here is mine, from wayyyyy back in September of 2010. It's so hard to believe it's almost been a whole year. I guess time does fly when you are having fun! LOL

I am SO excited about fall. It is my favorite season! I have already begun working on my fall crafts! Yesterday I started working on some Halloween hair bows and necklaces. And then..I started working on a Fall wreath! I will share photos with you soon.

Well, it's August! We all know what that means..."Back to School". I love this time of the year. My kids are mostly grown, two in college, on left at home and this is her Senior Year! So bittersweet! But I still love browsing through the Back to School section at stores. I love the smell of new spirals, pencils, erasers, etc. Yep...call me crazy, but I love school and office supplies! LOL

Ladybugs Bring Good Luck

This is what I have heard..."Ladybugs bring good luck", and right now I need some good luck!!! These last 2 weeks of July have been very stressful and I'm ready to say "Goodbye"!
So with today being August 1st, I can only pray for better days. My car is home and according to Chevrolet is as "good as new". Okay...we will see.

My daughter, who is a high school cheerleader, has started MINI Cheer Camp today. The cheerleaders host this every summer as a fundraiser. It's so cute to see those little girls dressed up little cheerleaders. I remember taking my daughter when she was about 4. She's been cheering ever since!

Boy, yesterday I was in "this" mood! My day was hectic and busy, I had errands to run and jobs to be done!

I was basically on schedule until my new car decided to pull a "fast one" on me and break down!!! Yep, I heard this noise, looked around and saw GUNK all over my front tire. Long story short...my brake line, or axel line had come loose and leaked all the grease or GUNK (as I call it) out! It was not driveable! Luckily, my Mom lives in town, so she gave my daughter and I a ride home. Thanks MOM! :)

Anyway, I was so bummed when I got home. My car was towed to the ~~car doctor ,~~I mean dealership for repair and I am now using my husbands ~~gas guzzler,~~ truck.

I have a confession to make.......

I'm addicted! Yep, I'm addicted to Pinterest! I never thought I would be muttering these words, but I am! And I'm not ashamed to admit it!!!! LOL

I have found some super cute ideas, wonderful inspiration and some yummy recipes! So far I have tried 3 recipes and they have been awesome!!!

Lastnight for dessert I made these super simple Peanut Butter Cup Brownies and OH MY GOSH...they were beyond good!!! My family's favorite sweet combo is peanut butter and chocolate,so these were a hit! So yummy!!!!

I have also tried this recipe for a Jalepeno Cheese Popper Grilled Sandwich. I will never see a grilled cheese sandwich the same ever again!

My next recipe to try will be this one:

French Chicken Brocoli Supreme!!! :)
and...to go along with it, how about some: Home made Olive Garden Breadsticks!

Flip Flop Fun!

Hope you are having a fabulous Tuesday! It was a great, long weekend wasn't it?! But OH this HEAT!!!
Wow...it's been so hot in south texas!! All I can say is thank God for air conditioning and flip flops!!!

Speaking of flip flops, I was in a super fun swap hosted over at The Texas Darlings blog. This was their 3rd Annual Flip Flop exchange, but it was a 1st for me. I got paired up with Kristen from Georgia. She's got the cutest blog called blissfully insane. I love the way she talks about her three kids and her pregnancy. You see, she is pregnant with twin boys! Yep...twins!!!
Anyway, we got paired up together and she sent me the cutest flip flops by BeeBop:

She also sent me some yummy Red Pepper Jelly. This is my all time favorite jelly. I love it spread on cream cheese and crackers! And her town is so pretty!!!!

Let's Play a Game!

It's a guessing game of sorts. I thought it would fun! You see, the other day I ran into the thrift store and found some really cute things! Problem is...I'm not sure what some of them are! LOL

So here's the first picture. I think it's a DVD holder, but some of the slats are not tall enough for DVD's.

I think it's pretty cute...and it's unique don'ta think?

Okay, here's another cute find:

I thought this would work sitting on top of my new found lazy susan w/ scrapping supplies. But what is it really?LOL

Now...I know this is a mug rack...

But I was thinking of painting it and make it a "Bling Rack"!

And last, but not least. I found a really great desk for my daughter's room. It's solid maple, and for $45, I thought it was a steal! She wants to paint it black and add glass hardware.

Vacation Week!

HI guys! I just realized it's been almost a week since my last post, but my hubby decided to take the week off to celebrate our 24th wedding annivesary. So we took an impromptu trip to the beach. It's been so super HOT in south Texas, but it was nice to get away!!

So, what have I been working on??? Not much. I have been getting some goodies together for my 100 Followers Giveway! Hoping to post that next week!

From boring to fabulous!

I bought some boring flip flops the other day at WalMart, but I had plans for those babies!! I was gonna make them fabulous!!!

Super boring flipflops!

I had some Rosette Ribbon and I pulled out some velcro, but I'll use that for another project later.

I also found these hairclips in my stash. Got these at the $1 store!

Using some scissors and hot glue gun, this is what I did with my findings!

Flip Flops and 2 Matching Hair Clips for about $5!!!

Super easy project and a great way to dress up some "boring" flipflops!LOL

Sorry for posting so late today, but I have been so busy today. I have finally gotten a chance to sit down and have some quiet time!
Being in South Texas and being that it is summer we have fruit everywhere! From peaches, to cantelopes, to watermelons! This is what I love about summer!

Fun in the Sun!

Well, Summer has definetly arrived in South Texas! It's been extremely hot...since May! You can look over to the left of my blog and see my Weather Widget, it will give you our current weather conditions...most days...its says "HOT"!!!

Last week was a whopper and I shamefully missed posting my Meljen's Designs card for the week. So, today I'm going to make up for that and show it to you!!
But first I'd like to share a Challenge Card with you! I am entering this card in a SEVERAL challenges. The first is over at All that Scraps Wednesday Challenge. The theme this week is anything goes.
I'm also using it for the Wednesday Whimsie Challenge, their theme is Take a Dip!
So appropriate for our HOT weather days!!
And the last but not least, I'm also linking my card to Stamp and Create.com's "Summer" Challenge. Their prize for this month is a $25 gift certificate to Stamp and Create.

Sweet, Generous and Fun...that's YOU!

Happy Wednesday to you! I haven't gotten much done today...except made a few cards for friends! I should be doing laundry, dishes, sweeping,etc....but this is SO much more fun! LOL

I made this card for a couple of challenges . The first one is over at Tuesday Morning Sketches. This was the sketch sample to follow:

I was inspired by many of the design team's samples! They all did a great job~

Thinking of You

Yes, this is my 2nd post for today. I have been working on some challenge cards since it's just way too HOT outside to do anything else!

This is for the Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge

The theme this week is to use Flowers anywhere on your project. I just recently discovered these digi images by Wee Stamps. It was love at first sight! I couldn't wait to create a card using Blossom Suzi!

Don't forget to thank a Teacher!

As the school year is winding down I believe it's time to thank a teacher for their time and dedication. After all, teachers spend about 8 hours a day with your child. The teachers I have been so blessed to know have that "special gift". You see, it takes a "special gift" to be a teacher. How do I know....well, my Mom is a PreKinder teacher, she's a young gal in her 60's. For many, many years she has been a dedicated teacher to "her children". Yes, that's what she calls them.
She displays patience, kindness, and most importantly perserverance. I worked at school for a few years, but then realized I really didn't have that "special gift"...and I didn't want it either! he,he!!! I'm just kidding. I really loved working with those little ones. After all, who doesn't have fun chasing 4 and 5 year olds around as they yell, "NO I don't want to!" at you. You get to enjoy cleaning running noses, comforting them as they cry because Billy won't be their friend, you get to see the excitement in their eyes when they learn to right their name.
But I chose to stay home and take care of my kids and my family and do what I love....crafting.

My kids have also had some awesome teachers, so I'll get right to it:

have some "me" time later for crafting!
