Thinking of You

Yes, this is my 2nd post for today. I have been working on some challenge cards since it's just way too HOT outside to do anything else!

This is for the Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge
player badge

The theme this week is to use Flowers anywhere on your project. I just recently discovered these digi images by Wee Stamps. It was love at first sight! I couldn't wait to create a card using Blossom Suzi!

Again, have a great day!

Don't forget to thank a Teacher!

As the school year is winding down I believe it's time to thank a teacher for their time and dedication. After all, teachers spend about 8 hours a day with your child. The teachers I have been so blessed to know have that "special gift". You see, it takes a "special gift" to be a teacher. How do I know....well, my Mom is a PreKinder teacher, she's a young gal in her 60's.  For many, many years she has been a dedicated  teacher to "her children". Yes, that's what she calls them.
She displays patience, kindness,  and most importantly perserverance.  I worked at school for a few years, but then realized I really didn't have that "special gift"...and I didn't want it either! he,he!!! I'm just kidding. I really loved working with those little ones. After all, who doesn't have fun chasing 4 and 5 year olds around as they yell, "NO I don't want to!" at you. You get to enjoy cleaning running noses, comforting them as they cry because Billy won't be their friend, you get to see the excitement in their eyes when they learn to right their name.
But I chose to stay home and take care of my kids and my family and do what I love....crafting.

My kids have also had some awesome teachers, so I'll get right to it:
Thanks  for a Great year!!!

God bless you always!!!

I always include a matching gift tag and a "key" to open up your can.

here's a closer look at them:

The Cowgirl Can

Down on the Farm Can

The Diva Can

The Graduate Can

And there they are...ready for gift giving, or storing fun stuff.

Best Dad in the World

I'm lucky enough to be blessed with a really wonderful Dad. And this coming Father's Day will be a special one for me...you see, my Dad has been  ill. He hasn't been himself for quite some time now, so this Father's Day I want him to know how much we need him, love him, and appreciate him! My kids are also blessed with an Awesome father. He's loving, hardworking and fun. So this card is for him!

Card Details: Digi Image-Meljen's Designs, Sentiment-Microsoft Word, Dotted Paper-Cosmo Cricket,Ribbon-Offray,Circles-Spellbinders,  Misc.-Lots of Machine Stitching!

I made this card using Pappa Bear from Melissa's new releases!  Here is the whole set:

On my card I used the Pappa Bear but merged one more bear in the scene since we have been blessed with 3 kids! Digital images are wonderful for this kind of project! You can enlarge them, flip them, merge them, shrink them, etc!!! I love'em!

Challenge #60 using KRAFT and ONE other color was a real challenge for me...but such a fun one..you should hop on over and give it a try!!!

Made with Love in the USA!

I thought I'd title today's post this way to go with my two Challenge Cards! Yes...I completed 2 cards today!

The first is for Mo's Challenge #83--Distressing. I printed this image out a long time ago, and just hadn't gotten up to using it, until today that is!!!! I distressed the edges of my papers and added distress ink by Ranger.

Card Details: Digi Image--Mo's Digital Pencil, Patterned Paper-The Paper Studio, Border Punch-Martha Stewart, Tag-Avery, Misc. "Bakers Twine"--I don't own any, so I made my own. I had a spool of twine and used a pink marker to make the lines. Button and Machine Stitching, Pink Flower was from a package I received from Tiffany Ervin's blog candy.

The other card I made is for two challenges: 1. Sassy Cheryl's Challenge #65-Let's Get Patriotic!

I didn't actually have a "Patriotic" image by Sassy Cheryl's, so I modified my image by printing out a flag I googled and cut it out and pasted it over the flower image.
Here is the original image:

and here's the modified image:
Card Details: Digi Image-Sassy Cheryl's, Patterned Paper-The Paper Studio, Circles-Spellbinders, USA Flag is clipart that was colored, cut and added to the image.

I Lava You!

I made this card for a super fun challenge over at Whimsie Doodles. The theme for their Whimsie Wednesday Challenge was TEENS!!! I have 3 of them so this card is right up my alley!

Honestly, I a bit disappointed with my photo taking skills or my camera, because you cannot see the glossy accents I used on the lava lamps. I used stickles on the Lava hearts, and Glossy Accents inside the "glass" domes. Oh well....here it is, perfect or not! LOL
Card Details: Digi Image/Sentiment-Whimsiedoodles, Patterned Paper-Doodlebug Design, Buttons-Cosmo Cricket, Stickles-Ranger, Misc. Colored Hemp and Glossy Accents

Okay...time to start some dinner. Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday evening.

Feels like Summer Around here!

In Texas it seems we got from Winter to Summer...there's no Spring in between. We go from cold to HOT!
Today's high is supposed to be about 95...down south from us their high is 102.
So...with this being said, I was in the mood to make a "summer card". I chose this image from Meljen's Designs called Sand Castle available at Whimsey Stamps.

Card Details: Digi Image-Meljen's Designs, Patterned Papers-Cosmo Cricket, SeaShell Border Punch-Martha Stewart, Ribbon-Walmart

After being sick all last week...I am ready to get back to my cardmaking and sewing! So I am hoping for another post soon sharing my creations with you!!

Have a blessed Monday!

I've got 2 things on my agenda for today! First..it's Thursday, that means it's one more day til Friday! Just kidding...
It's time for Meljen's Designs New Releases and New Challenge #58--Graduations!
Here are this week's new releases:
Meljens Designs May 12th Release Display
and here is my card for this week's Challenge #58:

In real life the greens really do match. Not sure what was up with my camera. It is a cloudy day, so my picture isn't the best it can be. That's right...I'm blaming it on the weather!
Card Details: Digi Image-Meljen's Designs, Patterned Paper-The Paper Studio, Border Punch-Martha Stewart, Cardstock-Bazill, Ribbon-Offray, Stickles-Ranger, Black Brads-The Paper Studio

With Graduations right around the corner, I plan on using all of these images. I cannot wait to see what you come up with for this week!
*******************************************************************************

And now...for my wonderful goodies from Jennifer of My Crazy Life.
but FIRST let me tell you about this unique, fun swap. I found it over at My So-Called Chaos, Angie and Beth were so kind to let me participate.  We were paired up with another crafty loving person and traded with them. Like I said, I got paired with Jennifer!  I had so much fun getting to know her!

And these are the goodies I received from her:

A handmade memo board, she made this out of a cookie sheet, covered it with yummy fabric and ribbon. The covered tin can has magnets on it so it is removable. She also included a matching pink and black clippy.
How cool is this! She is so talented!!!

and look at these adorable Bottlecap necklaces! She sent me the John Deere necklace because of a blog post I wrote about my Dad driving a JDeere tractor. How sweet is that?!     But my
stinker of a 17 yr.old,  daughter claimed it! LOL She loves tractors! And the "Love" bottlecap comes off so it can be switched  with another pendant. You see, it has a magnet on the back of it. I could even use it or store it on my magnetic board!

The funny thing is....I sent her daughter the same kind of necklace!!! LOL

One more thing to show you...these adorable magnets! They are wire shapes with polymar clay flowers in the centers of them. How cute are these!? {{{squeal}}}}

She says my polka dotted ring got left behind at her house, so that will arrive on Friday. I'll show you that as soon as it makes it to me.

Please visit Beth's blog over at Living a Goddess Life to learn more about her and this swap.

I would like to thank Beth and Angie of My So Called Chaos once again for letting me join in!
I have had so much fun gettting to know Jennifer, learning new craft techniques, and sharing crafty goodness with her! What a fun swap!
Thanks for visiting today! Have a great Thursday!

Yep, Life Sucks Sometimes!

Hey..I'm just being honest! My day pretty much sucked, until now atleast! I got up bright and early with hopes of getting alot done. I've had a "to do" list longer than the Colorado River!  I did get some laundry done, tackled some clutter, and showered...all by 8:30am. THEN.....my head started to hurt, my tummy started to churn, and I was cold and had chills. My bones started hurting and I knew it was time to lay back down. So much for the "to do" list. :(

After a nap, a longgg nap, I got up...washed up again, and have forced myself to stay afloat! Hoping for a much better evening!

So...I felt it was only appropriate to make this card for a challenge over at Whimsie Doodles. The challenge is NO COLOURING allowed! Is colouring really spelled that way??...I prefer coloring. Oh well...I followed the rules and came up with this:

Card Details: Digi Image/Sentiment-WhimsieDoodles, Patterned Papers-Cosmo Cricket, Border Punch-Martha Stewart

Thanks for visiting today! Remember to check back tomorrow for Meljen's Designs new releases and Challenge #58!

Awesome Thrifty Finds for the month of April!

I love shopping thrift stores because for one, the price  usually can't be beat, and two..you never know what you will find! It's like searching for treasures! I have found lots of goodies and some I will use as they are...and others will get painted or altered for another use.

Here they are:

I found lots of zippers! And at 10 and 25 cents, they are a steal! Also found 2 packages for Photo Hangers from Ikea. It's a wire that is attached to 2 suction cups, photos attach to the wire with these cute little silver clips...really cool for $1 each! The glass dish is perfect for rings and things. And I fell in love with the lacy metal box with leather handles. Might be great for storing my nail polishes!

This is gonna look great hanging next to my back door.

I've always wanted a wooden Lazy Susan, I found one by Ikea for $3! I also found this cute little kids stool that I can't wait alter! $2 for this!  When I found the wire basket, I thought it was perfect. I love the color and it will be great in my craft room for storing rubber stamps. And I have a weakness for wicker baskets, the large handles on this one caught my attention!

The white, square basket still has it's Ikea tag on it, I got this baby for $2! And look at the cute, "Junk" box! My kids said it's so appropriate for me! LOL I LOVE it!!!

I can't wait to fix this baby up! It's got 3 slots, and I've got 3 kids...perfect! This is gonna look awesome with some cute file folders, or my collection of handmade cards! $5 for this!

I have NO idea what this is! But for $2, it was too pretty to pass up! I want to use it in my scrapbook room for storing stuff! If you know what this is...please tell me! :)

This is ONE of my favorite finds!!! It's a frame with a metal grid in it! The lovely person who donated it, even included the organza bag with little gold hooks! This is going to be perfect in my bedroom for my jewerly! I couldn't have spent my $5 a better way!
And my last photo..........

I have been wanting some candle sconces for each side of my bed. These are heavy and well made. For $2 each they are gonna look awesome in my bedroom! Can't wait to hang them up!!!

So there you have it. Almost all of my Thrifty Finds for the month of April! I can only look forward to what May will bring!!!!

Thanks for visiting!

But for me, today will just be a regular Thursday. And that is okay. But maybe for dinner tonight we will have Mexican food! LOL

For now I'd like to share a card with you. I'm really hoping my sister doesn't visit my blog today, because this is my card to her for Mother's Day.

My Dad drives a John Deere!

Yes, my Dad drove a John Deere tractor when I was growing up. And that's how I learned to drive at the ripe age of 12! You see, we all had to help out on the ranch and this was one of my many chores. Even though it was hard work, they are great memories.

I've been trying to get some sewing done this week. I came upon this pretty John Deere fabric that I bought last year. I paired it with some cowprint fabric and yellow polka dotted ribbon and came up with this set:

And here's the matching hair bow:

Sadly, at the time I only bought like half a yard.  I wanted to use every scrap of it, so with a small piece I had left, I made a rosette flower at added it to the center of my bow.

Have a great Tuesday!
