"I Do!"

Well, I don't...really. But it's Friday and you know what that means.....it's time for another challege from Raise the Bar. Here's this week's challenge:
"I do!" Summer is popular for weddings, but let's do a card with something old, something new, something borrowed (<--lol at that, how about recycled?), something blue.

Something old: I've had this House Mouse stamp for a little while now....that qualifies for old.
Something New: The Cuttlebug Folder is fairly new.
Something Borrowed..more like Recycled for me: This ribbon was tied around a gift from Christmas.
and....threw some BLUE in there!

Card Details: Image: House Mouse Designs rubberstamp, Sentiment: Microsoft Word,Glossy Accents on the "bubbles", Cuttlebug embossing folder,
Ovals: Nestabilities, Ribbon: from a Christmas gift.

As always, thanks for visiting and I love reading your sweet comments.
Have a Blessed Friday!!!

I've been busy Sewing!!

Besides cardmaking, scrapbooking and crafting......sewing is one of my favorite hobbies!!!
I've been really busy these past few days trying to stitch up some stuff for my
 Etsy Shop:Just Us Girlz
This set started with these swim trunks.. They are by Gymboree and  OH SO sweet!!!
So then I made up this shirt to go with them:

and got this outfit:

Another outfit I made using a pattern from Brassy Apple. I love her blog and her creations.
I couldn't wait to find some jeans from the second hand store, so I used some Old Navy overalls that I had in my stash. I cut them to "capri" length and got my scraps together and made this set.

And my last project is this set.
It all started with The Pleated Poppy. I read a post that featured her ruffled, zippered pouches and it made me wanna make my own.

But I couldn't stop here....NOOOO...I had to make a tote bag to match!!!

it was missing something when I stitched it up, so I searched my vintage stash and found this earring...
made a flower and stuck it in the middle.

Whew!!! I need a lunch break!LOL I've got other projects in progress...I just need more hours in my day to complete them!!
Thanks for visiting, have a blessed Wednesday!!!

Glass Jars and a Somethingyacallit

Yesterday was quite an eventful day for me, for my son, I dropped him off at college for 4 days of Freshman orientation! Yep, my little guy is going off to college...just like Andy from Toy Story 3. {{{{sigh}}}}

So...to ease my depression I decided to soothe myself with a trip to Goodwill! I found some cute jars and a "Some thing ya call it"...yep, I don't know what the heck it is..but it was unique and it caught my eye, and it came home with me!
Love my Mason Jar with a "Texas" star in the center!! The next one has fruit embossed shapes on the glass, I've already washed it up and put kool-aid packets in it! And I love, love the color of the blue jar. I have the lid, but laid it down somewhere and can't find it!LOL

And then I found this: But I don't know what it is!!!LOL I told my daughter it would make a
cute Jewelry holder...she rolled her eyes at me!! Or...some kind of displaying thing for my booth at the shop.  I don't know...what do you think??
I also found some cute candle/votive holders. The glass votive didn't come with either one of them,
but it works great with both!

 or....................
And...I found this pretty fabric shower curtain. I've been wanting to get rid of my current one and for $4, I couldn't pass this one up! I love aqua and chocolate brown together!

After all this shopping I was still missing my son.....but felt somewhat better!!
Thanks for visiting today!!!

Happy Birthday!

I was asked to make a "special" birthday card for a "special" teenager. Yep, her family thinks she's pretty special and her grandmother wanted a card made just for her!!!! I was so thrilled to be given the assignment! I hope she enjoys it.
I am also using this card for a challenge over at Scrap-Creations: Make a card with a summer theme.

Card Details: Digi Image: Elisabeth Bell Designs, Sentiment: Microsoft Word, Patterned Paper: Cosmo Cricket collection, Rhinestone brads: Making Memories, Border Punch: Martha Stewart, Circles: Nestabilities, Misc. Ribbon, Stickles

Bargain Lamp gets a new Look!

If you scroll down and read my Thrifty Finds article you will see that I got this lamp the other day at a nearby thrift store for $3!! I liked it not only for it's cheap price, but because of it's pretty, glass base.
BEFORE:
I didn't like the gold and the lampshade needed some sprucing up. So...I took it apart a bit and spray painted the base and top white. I put fabric over the lampshade and embellished with some cute ribbon.
AFTER:

Thanks for visiting today. Have a wonderful Sunday!!

My head is Spinning!!!

Yes, my head is spinning....with ideas of course!!! I have fabric I want to stitch up, more jeans to embellish,
and a lamp I want to redo...and then...that dreaded "ceiling fan light fixture!!!"

I have put it out of my sight for now until I figure out whether to drop it off at Goodwill or another thrift store.
Anyway......my daughter is a teenager and loves the latest styles at the highest prices, but with 2 older brothers and all the expenses that come along with teens: car insurance, gas money, cars, college she has learned it's nice to save money when we can.
I found her this dress yesterday and put it in the wash...I told her if she didn't want it, I could re-purpose it and use it in a craft project. Well..........guess what she did!?

Here's the dress BEFORE:

And now for some AFTER photos:

and one more:

So, she looks pretty cute in her $2 Aeropostale dress don't you think!?

Have a great Saturday! I"m going to hopefully get some projects done today so I can share some updates with you on my Thrifty Finds post.

Awesome Thrifty Finds!

So today it was raining...again, so I decided to head on over to a nearby thrift store. I had $17 in my pocket. I was on  a mission to find fabric and a child's pair of jeans.
And look what I found today:
It was a great bargain at $7. I loved the curvy details on it, it's heavy and has the hammered metal look. I pictured it a dark brown, bronze, or black.
BUT.....HOLD the BUS!!!!!!!!!! Guess what I noticed about my light fixture AFTER I got home!
It goes on the bottom of a ceiling fan! It's not just  a light fixture like I thought. I feel so silly!!!
It's so pretty, but how I would I attach it to the ceiling, and would the wiring work the same?? Oh well.
My next wonderful bargain was this lamp, for $3! I'm going to take it apart and paint the gold a different color. I'm also going to redo the lampshade. **Watch for updates.

And I got some yummy fabric and zippers and....a pretty white, eyelet dress!!!

Vintage fabric pillowcase, so nice and soft, a table runner and lots of zippers!!!

White, Aeropostale eyelet dress. So pretty for my daughter.

So...those were my bargains for today!!! All this for $14!!! I had $3 left for a Sonic drink!LOL
Can't wait to get creating and re-purposing!!!
Thanks for visiting!!!

I am using little miss sweet Maggie this week:
Oh...and I am dedicating this card to my OLDER sister, for today is her Birthday! The lucky birthday gal is on vacation so I won't be able to see her..so Happy Birthday Sis!!!!!
Card Details: Stamp by Magnolia, Sentiment: Studio G, Patterned Paper: Cosmo Cricket collection, Cardstock: Bazzill, Misc. Ribbon, Button and Stickles. Cupcakes: WalMart Bakery!

Excuse my photo, I know it's not up to par. But thanks to Tropical Storm Bonnie it's been raining all day!

Feeling a bit Creative Today!

I guess we can blame it on the rain! Thank you Hurricane Alex!!! I am supposed to be cleaning today but I had this "creative itch" and just wanted to sew, embellish, and make cards!!! There is just not enough hours in my day for me to finish all my little projects!! I will show you a few that I made today.
I bought some plain pink onsies and embellished them with fabric. I can call this one my own design because I drew the cupcake all by myself.
And here's another onsie...I drew this flower too!

I also got these plain booties:
And added some vintage trim to the bottom of them:

I guess I really should get busy with some housecleaning! After...I finish my 4th of July cards!!!
